Heel Facts

• The "pitch" for a 6" heel isn't a fixed value but rather the inclination angle or arch created inside the shoe, which varies by design, even with the same heel height. While the heel height is the total height from the back to the sole, the pitch determines the actual steepness and how much pressure is placed on the ball of the foot. High-pitched shoes (e.g., > 110 degrees inclination) are for experienced wearers, but a lower, more comfortable pitch is generally achieved by using a platform.

What Is Heel Pitch

• Inclination angle: The angle of the foot inside the shoe is often referred to as the inclination.
• Arch: In some terminology, this is called the arch, calculated as the heel height minus the height of the platform and sole.
• Comfort: The pitch or inclination significantly affects comfort and walkability more than the total heel height.

How A 6" Heel Pitch Works

• Without A Platform: A shoe with a 6" heel and no platform would have a very high and steep pitch, meaning the angle of the foot would be very steep, likely uncomfortable and difficult to walk in.
• With A Platform: .A platform on the sole of the shoe reduces the actual angle of the foot, making it more comfortable, even with a tall 6" heel. For example, a shoe with a 6" heel and a 3" platform would essentially feel like a 3" heel, providing a more comfortable pitch.

Things To Consider

• Compare Inclinations: When looking at heels, it's better to compare their inclination or pitch rather than just the heel height.
• Experience Matters: A steeper pitch or higher inclination requires more flexibility and experience to tolerate.
• Fitness: A high pitch shoe puts more stress on the knees, ankles, toes, and the balls of the feet.  The lighter you are and better shape your in can greatly impact your personal wearing results.
• Design Elements: The design, platform and shoe size will influence the final pitch.  Generally small sizes have a more extreme pitch than larger sizes.

• Always store your products away from light and heat.
• Protect your leather products from rain and moisture.
